cheating isn't a game.|
First of all you have to remember one thing, Speed Gear in my opinion should be used for one thing and only one thing. To close the gap. I am an excellent gamer, I play FPS, RPG, MMORPG, Strategy, Real-Time Strategy, and pretty much all other games. In 90% of single player games speed gear is useless unless your brain is far too slow to process everything that is on the screen and you need to slow things down, but speeding them up is foolish seeing as everything is sped up including the game and there isn't much benefit to that unless you play a really slow useless old game.
Secondly when playing multi-player you need to remember there are several different type of server options games use. Some fully host the game(maps, character, all other information you see on your screen) on the server so that you aren't allowed to alter the file and cheat in the game. Some servers force you to host everything on your computer and basically the only thing the server host's is the connection between you and the other players, this is the game in most FPS and some Real-time strategies. This allows for the server host to cheat and allow cheats which is why most MMORPG's are a mix of both. Your computer simple can't handle the entire world of the game running at one time so most of the server and everything in it is run on the host(game) server. However your character and the things your character has on it or the actions it takes are hosted on your computer. Now some MMO's very in the degree of information you have, and the amount that is saved on the server and only accessible via the server.
In your case You are allowed certain information that you host about your character such as appearance and of course the speed of the character is completely determined on how fast your computer is running.
Now most newer games have additional, let's call them, "slowing effects" that balance the difference between one persons computer and another persons computer so that unfair advantages aren't gained by have a fast computer with extremely high bandwidth. Thus you run into games that claim "you can run this game without lag on 56k" which of course is almost always bogus. Now when it comes down to you altering your speed this balancing effect can actually speed up other users around you slightly however when you kick it up way too high you'll find that you become laggier then a 56k user. Well guess what, the problem is one in the same, "communication!" When your character violates the parameters of how fast the communication between your character and the game goes data packets are lost on a mass scale and the server is forced to replace the missing packets with previous information which explains why you see rubber banding effects.
My only tip for you is to slow it down. I only ever run speed gear at about 300 over the norm. Above that is pushing it and you compromise the integrity of the game. On top of that people really notice you flying around and get really pissed off when they are playing the game fairly and you are just being cheap. Like I said, Speed Gear should be used to bridge the gap between you lagging and other people not.... I make up what Iím missing so that I am going the same speed as others with allot more money to buy better hardware and bandwidth then me.
